Horacio Pagani strongly desired the restoration of a car that marked the history of the car manufacturer he founded. The restoration of Zonda C12 chassis 001 was carried out by a team of expert craftsmen from the company in Italy's Motor Valley. We would have told a completely different story if, after many kilometers of running-in and use for crash tests, the first Zonda model had been abandoned for demolition. Starting from jealously guarded drawings, most of the components were restored and all missing parts were reproduced. The first Pagani in history, that Zonda C12, chassis number 001, was exhibited at the 1999 Geneva International Motor Show and introduced the San Cesario Sul Panaro atelier to the whole world. Also famous is the Zonda with chassis number 002, now on display at the Pagani museum. The oldest one, in fact, covered thousands of kilometers for tests and homologations with a central 6-liter, 450 hp Mercedes-Benz V12 engine, which allowed it to achieve excellent results in terms of performance and lap records on some of the most important international circuits in the early 2000s.
