In 1985, he started his fifth season in an Opel and competed for the Opel Euro Team in several ERC and WRC events. After a superb second place at the Ypres Rally, Jimmy McRae concluded his collaboration with the Opel Euro Team at the RAC Rally, "at home". Facing the world's top rally drivers, Colin's father delivered a solid performance. As the stages progressed, he raised his game and finished sixth in the 1985 RAC Rally with his Opel Manta 400. An excellent achievement for his final outing behind the wheel of an Opel rally car.
